Back to life...

Okay- we made it. We made it through the High Holidays:) The never ending cooking, cleaning, guests, planning, trips, running, coming and going. We made it. Congratulations!

Now as nice as it would be to go to the Spa for a week to recuperate (okay, a day would even be nice), us momma's have to get right back into the swing of things.

So in honor of this weeks Parshah, Parshas Bereishis, here is a really cute Activity Pack I made for my kiddos and for you all to enjoy~

And here are a few previous blog posts I did on this weeks Parshah- Click Here to check them out.

Wishing you all a really peaceful and relaxing Shabbos. You deserve it.

Me in My World

Since we are learning about how Hashem created the world, I saw this project on another mom blog somewhere and knew my kids would just love it- and it ties in nicely to what we are learning about.

Basically, you are showing your little one where they are in this whole scheme of things, from what planet they live on to their address.

This is what the finished product looks like:

Tzedakah

During the month of Elul we focus on Teshuva (returning to Hashem), Tefilla (prayer) and Tzedakah (charity).

Here are a few things we did in connection to Tzedakah:

Firstly, we learned that Tzedakah is not just giving MONEY to people who need it. It's giving clothes, a job, even a kind word. Its helping people in as many ways as we are able.

This is a sweet craft of friends helping friends:

Decorating a Pushkah (Tzedakah Box)- you can use any container with a lid:

Shining pennies with Q-tips and lemon juice- it took a while, and they really needed to shine the coins but the kids eventually saw results:

Counting 100 pennies to make one dollar- this is a Montessori 100's board, you can easily make one with paper/cardboard and markers. It really gives the kids a visual idea of what 100 pennies look like and that 100 pennies make one dollar:

On the 25th day of Elul, Hashem started to create the World. On the 6th day of Creation, Hashem created man. The 6th day falls out on Rosh Hashanah.

Here is a "Day's of Creation Activity Pack" I out together for my kiddo's-

You can download it HERE

You can use it together with the Shabbat Activity Pack which you can find HERE

Hope this is helpful!

Parshas VaYeira Shabbos Questions and Bereishis Curriculum Review

Here is a great packet I found on www.chinuch.org - It is a synopsis of the weekly Parshah with questions and answers... I found it to be perfect for asking questions on the Parshah at the Shabbos table-

You can download it here:

I was then given the wonderful opportunity to review A Creative Curriculum- Bereishis by Chani Marcus.

Their Bereishis curriculum provides you with 26 creative lessons covering the book of Bereishis. Each lesson contains a worksheet as well as numerous activities, discussions, projects and tools to engage the students, drive the lessons home and make the stories come to life.

It says it is appropriate for grades 3 – 6, but it can definitely be tweaked and simplified for younger kids.

It comes with a list of Projects for all year long as well as a complete lesson plan for each Parshah in Sefer Bereishis.

Each lesson plan comes with the following:
G-Goal
P-Project
D-Discussion
W-Worksheet
A-Activity
S-Story
An-Anticipatory Set
X-Extra-Curricular
V-Visual

It is jam packed with info and ideas, and I highly recommend it!

You can check out her website here: Aleph Champs

She also carries fabulous Hebrew reading books and workbooks and flashcards, all of which we have and love using-

So go check it out!

Wishing all a wonderful Shabbos,
